  1. https://link.springer.com/content/pdf/10.1007%2Fs12115-019-00380-7.pdf (jjay database) – according to the author Nia E. Hulse (11 July 2019), she goes into detail about how wealth can affect influence admissions into certain Ivy/Elite colleges. She also explained how these kind of colleges should admit students by a lottery based system but the downside of this system is that it will eliminate the need of meritocracy in which people are chosen by their skills and talent. The main point that she is trying to make is that college admissions should be based on a lottery based system, that way factors such as wealth, race, athleticism, or gender won’t influence the college admission process. I believe that many colleges should not base their decision making system based on a student’s race or wealth but based on their grades. I don’t think that making a lottery based system is a good way to enroll students because it can or can not accept students that have good grades. It can leave them to be rejected from the college which doesn’t seem fair
  2. ps://www.pewresearch.org/search/college%20admissions– Title “Most Americans say colleges should not consider race or ethnicity in admissions”. Nikki Graff (February 25 2019), tells us how people in the U.S think college admissions should accept students to enroll in their institution. They think that it’s better to accept students by lottery, or randomly. By doing this, it avoids the bias in college admissions such as race and wealth factors. This is seen as more fair since if chosen randomly, there will be no more problems but its not entirely true. There are some who think that by doing this random lottery admissions, it’s taking off consideration of students grades as well. Some students who have good grades may not be chosen since its random and this will eventually lead to a lawsuit to colleges with lottery admissions. Race and ethnicity are a big part of college decision system. This should not be part of it because it doesn’t take into account everyone’s grades or talents. They only choose students with a certain race.
  3. https://www.higheredtoday.org/2019/04/08/complicit-college-admissions-scandal/– Title “We are all complicit in the college admissions scandal” Scott Cowen (April 8, 2019), explains why we should end college admission loopholes that way future generations can learn how to be fair and know how to earn things properly. He tells us how there are many kids who are privileged and that their parents have access to pay for their child’s education which can make the student/child be lazy since he has access to everything due to their parents wealth. It explains how elite schools are biased and “rigged” when it comes to school admissions. Colleges prefer students who are privileged even though they don’t meet up to the characteristics that that college requires. It also states how many adults primarily parents help the college admissions process to be rigged. Many parents bribe and offer money to colleges to allow their child to attend that college. Overall, colleges are not meeting with what they stand for. They don’t offer equal opportunities to everyone and they don’t offer social mobility meaning not every social class gets to attend due to their wealth.
  4. https://www.google.com/amp/s/hechingerreport.org/facts-about-race-and-college-admission/amp/, Title: “Facts about race and college admissions” Jon Marcus (published about 1 year ago). It mainly describes how many students are accepted into colleges based on their race. A chart in this article explains how about 42% of white students get accepted while only 34% of Hispanics and Blacks are accepted. This shows how biased some colleges are. Many changes have to be made for college admissions. Less Hispanics and African Americans are being enrolled Less which decreases diversity. I think everyone should be treated equal, that way no one can be left out based on their heritage or skin color.

https://www.applerouth.com/blog/2017/09/12/5050-isnt-equal-when-it-comes-to-college-admissions/, Title: “50:50 isn’t equal when it comes to college admissions” (Marshal Findlay, September 12, 2017). The author describes how gender also take a roll in biased enrollment in Elite colleges. Many women have to work “34% more harder” so that they can be accepted to these Elite colleges while males don’t have to work this hard. I don’t think this is fair because both male and female students need to have a fair chance to get into their dream Elite school without being discriminated against their gender.
