Topic; College Admissions and it’s Bias

Inquiry Question: Why do Colleges look at students ethnic background, wealth or race if it does not add to anything toward their academic achievements?

Reason#1; They choose students with certain backgrounds to make the college more diverse

Reason #2; They would rather choose students with high income families because it helps the school be more financially stable even though it is not fair to many other low and middle income students.

A way to avoid bias in admissions would be to make a lottery based admissions where students get chosen at random. This way, students are equally chosen to be accepted at their chosen college.
